Advanced Composite Rocket Component Construction

Making and Reinforcing Airframes

This is a bit out of place in this page, but  here's a page I started based on my first attempts to reinforce some phenolic airframe tubes with carbon fiber using heat shrink tape wrap and a post cure oven. The page is here on Making and Reinforcing Airframes.

That above page doesn't yet have anything on making tubes - just wrapping them. I plan on following Tom Cloud's work.

I have also started a page to evaluate my airframe glassing and tube making work. I compare my results to "industry and amateur" and also to commercial products like Public Missiles pre-glassed airframes and carbon fiber composite tubing products. Just started, it's my Airframe Glassing Evaluation page.

Don't Start a Fire

The potentially high temps for setting heat shrink tape as well as occasionlly for curing and post curing can be a fire risk. Interestingly wood can be a risk at lower temperatures than you might think.

The Other Stuff

Since I started a nice, neat page, I moved everything else to The Other Stuff page. I'll slowly move that content to where it needs to be.
